Microsoft Power Platform Customized Training with the US Navy
NobleCamps recently completed a 12-day Microsoft Power Platform bootcamp for the US Navy in Japan. Conducted in both English and Japanese, the training provided small teams of 15 participants with the opportunity to gain hands-on skills in low-code development, automation, data analysis, and secure information management.
The program was designed to build practical competencies that participants can apply immediately in their daily work.
Training Overview
Program Name | Microsoft Power Platform Bootcamp |
Client Name | United States Navy (Japan) |
Client Industry | Defense & Military |
Program Content | Microsoft Power Platform (including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse) |
Skills Acquired | Custom app development, automated workflow design, data visualization, secure information management |
Training Duration | 12 days |
Participants | Around 40 |
Location | US Navy base in Japan, On-site |
Languages | English and Japanese |
This was not an introductory software class.
Instead, it was a customized, results-driven training program designed to dramatically improve operational efficiency through automation, data management, and application development.
While Microsoft is often associated with Office tools like PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, Power Platform consists of five core tools:
Power Apps: No-code/low-code business application development
Power Automate: Business process automation
Power BI: Data visualization and analytics for decision-making
Copilot Studio: Build AI chatbots and virtual agents
Power Pages: Website development
Supporting these five tools is Microsoft Dataverse, which serves as the secure and unified data platform. Dataverse integrates across the applications to ensure data consistency and compliance in workflows.

Together, these tools accelerate digital transformation by enabling non-IT staff to design, automate, and manage solutions directly in their operational environments.
What is Microsoft Power Platform Training?
The Microsoft Power Platform—consisting of Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse provides personnel with tools to design applications, automate administrative tasks, and analyze data efficiently.
These capabilities align with NAVWAR’s Flank Speed and OneNAVWAR Digital Innovation Nexus (ODIN), which emphasize digital transformation and information superiority.
What is Microsoft Power BI?
Among the Power Platform tools, Power BI is dedicated to data utilization.
It allows users to analyze and visualize large datasets in real-time and share insights through interactive dashboards.

In this training, participants built dashboards to track fleet readiness, inspection data, and resource allocation. More than just data reporting, they learned how to extract “actionable insights” that drive strategic decision-making.
Program Design
The 12-day Microsoft Power Platform Bootcamp for US Navy was designed as a customized, immersive training program that combined lectures with daily labs and applied exercises.
Participants worked in small groups, ensuring active engagement and immediate application of their new skills. The curriculum covered each Power Platform tool in depth:
Power Apps: Build custom applications tailored to field needs (e.g., equipment management, onboarding support)
Power Automate: Reduce repetitive work through automated processes (e.g., automated data entry, real-time notifications)
Power BI: Develop dashboards that directly support decision-making
Dataverse: Practice secure, compliant data management
Beyond technical skills, the program emphasized a “citizen developer” approach, encouraging personnel to identify inefficiencies in their own areas of responsibility and apply the tools to address them directly.
Training Outcomes
Direct Operational Impact
By the end of the bootcamp, participants were able to:
Build functional business applications
Implement automated workflows
Create interactive dashboards aligned with operational needs
These capabilities reduced manual workload, shortened reporting cycles, and strengthened data-driven decision-making while reinforcing information security.
Bilingual, Multicultural Training
Delivered in both English and Japanese, the program ensured that all participants—across a multicultural base environment—fully understood the material and could directly apply it in their respective work environments.
